End of a very long era 😞
The former Charnock Hotel closed down in 2022 having served the community since the late 1800s. The pub was based within a former terraced house and now looks set to return to use as private accommodation.
Under plans submitted to Preston City Council, the building will be converted into two three-bed apartments with an outbuilding an an extension knocked down. The building currently comprises a bar and function room on the ground floor, bedrooms and bathrooms on the first floor and a basement/cellar.
It states: "In the late 1800s Mr Haresnape applied to sell beer from the property but the license lapsed. A further application was made in 1870 by Mr Haresnape for the license to be reinstated, and the property has been trading continually as a public house until early 2022. "Since the closure of the public house and the property becoming vacant in 2022 has unfortunately suffered severely from vandalism and misuse. The only Historical Asset that the property can adhere to is one of being able to provide the local residents with a facility for social gathering."We're testing a new site: This content is coming soon
