PSL bans AmaZulu official for 'sexually derogatory' comments towards a Pirates official
It is not clear when the incident happened, but the last time the two teams met was on 24 October 2023 during a DStv Premiership match at Durban's Moses Mabhida Stadium.The PSL disciplinary committee has slapped AmaZulu matchday security officer Smanga Mchunu with a ban from all football activities for three months.
PSL prosecutor Zola Majavu said Mchunu initially pleaded not guilty, but changed his plea to guilty after the Pirates official submitted her evidence. Firstly, Mr Mchunu is suspended from all football activities for a period of three months. Secondly, his employer AmaZulu is further directed to send all its officials in the security and communications departments for a diversity and gender sensitivity and related issues that deal with discrimination, homophobia and any other comments that may be stripping others of their dignity.
