JOHANNESBURG - The Public Service Commission is naming and shaming government departments that don't pay suppliers on time.It's up to ministers and directors-general of various departments to act. The Water and Sanitation Department is one of the main culprits breaking the law when it comes to non-payment of businesses.Public Service Commissioner Michael Seloane said non-payment is misconduct.
"Once it's misconduct, you're subjected to [a] disciplinary hearing in terms of chapter 10 of PFMA. If found guilty that money will have to be paid and you can be sanctioned."The national government can take disciplinary action against those responsible for non-payment.
