The Angus Reid Institute survey, released Thursday, said 64 per cent of Canadians believe federal workers are fairly (36 per cent) or overly (28 per cent)…

The survey found Canadians’ perceptions about compensation appeared to be influenced by their political leanings.

A large chunk of Liberal voters, at 45 per cent, believe federal employees are fairly compensated for their work, while those who voted NDP are more likely to say the workers are underpaid and fairly paid . On Wednesday, the union said the government wasn’t budging from its position with an offer of a nine per cent wage increase over three years still on the table.

A previous Angus Reid Institute survey showed Canadians are largely sympathetic to the union’s demands.
