The PSA says the Umsunduzi Municipality has implemented the water cuts at the provincial Health Dept
The Public Servants Association in KwaZulu-Natal has expressed concern over the recent disconnection of water services at government facilities in the province due to unpaid bills.
The cuts have affected the Basic Education Department’s head office in Pietermaritzburg due to schools PSA Provincial Manager Mlungisi Ndlovu says, “We strongly condemn this recent disconnection of water at key departments, that includes the Department of Health, the Department of Basic Education, there’s also Public Works.”
“Disconnections result to the unpaid municipality highlight a systematic financial management that disrupts public service at a critical time. If you look at the Department of Education for example, the office serves as a central support system of schools across the province, which is especially crucial during the exam period. “
Ndlovu adds, “So, this disruption of administration service support affects schools’ ability to coordinate exams, manage staff, and maintain stable learning environment, which places unnecessary stress to learners and educators.
