Tomorrow, select GameStop stores around the US will have limited quantities of PS5 console bundles available to purchase at in-store events for PowerUp Pro members.
On Saturday, April 2, select GameStop stores across the United States will have limited quantities of PS5 console bundles available to purchase in-store. The PS5 has remained in short supply around the globe since hitting the market well over a year ago in November 2020. Of course, pandemic-induced part shortages share the bulk of the blame, with various industries continuing to suffer under the weight of semiconductor supply constraints.
Though the PlayStation 5 is no longer keeping pace with PS4 sales during the same time frame in its life cycle, the newer Sony console still boasts impressive sales numbers. As of December 31, 2021, the fifth PlayStation-branded home console had topped 17.3 million units sold worldwide. Comparatively, the PS4 reached a staggering sales total of 18.5 million by early January 2015.
As is often the case, the unspecified limited quantities mean available PS5 console bundles will be sold on a first-come-first-serve basis. Those hoping to secure a PS5 this weekend should, thus, check with their local GameStop about availability, store hours, and the like, especially since there's no way of knowing when another restock will hit brick and mortar storefronts.
The PlayStation ecosystem has quite the year ahead of it, even with releases such as Horizon Forbidden West and Gran Turismo 7 now in the rearview mirror. Apparently, the eagerly-anticipated God of War: Ragnarök remains on track for a 2022 release, though Sony and developer Santa Monica Studio have yet to so much as tease a release window.
