“ is a start for us, and I think that is significant,” said Andy Riley, CEO of Chilliwack-based Riley Lumber, a specialty cedar mill that employs 28 workers. “We’re happy with what it is, but we’re hoping it’s going to be more in the future.” “It’s not like there’s a wall of wood coming at us here,” Power said. “It’s an incremental step in really shoring up some policy.”
Ralston made the announcement at the same time more dim news emerged from B.C.’s primary forest sector, with sawmiller Sinclar Group Forest Products announcing the two-week closure of mills in Fort St. James, Vanderhoof and Prince George.
