, an advocacy organization that worked with strikers to organize Friday's demonstration, the banner was erected by a UC Berkeley PhD student and a community ally. They began scaling the flagpoles at the beginning of the game's third quarter, striking UC Berkeley graduate worker Britt Dawson told SFGATE. The banner remained up from halfway through the third quarter until the end of the game.
The United Auto Workers union represents the 48,000 workers across 10 campuses who are currently participating in the strike. UAW leadership was not responsible for Friday's demonstration, according to Dawson.
