Proteas teen star aims to become one of the country's top wicket-takers
The global showpiece will be played in Dubai and Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates from 3 to 20 October. Speaking to City Press this week, Naidu was confident about what she wants to achieve in the national team.
Naidu was part of the Dolphins team that won the Cricket SA Women’s One-Day Cup in April. She showed nerves of steel when she scored a crucial 25 in their win over the Lions to clinch the 50-over title for the Dolphins. Naidu is expected to make her debut in the three-match T20 series against the Pakistanis on 16, 18 and 20 September in Multan. The Proteas will play two World Cup warm-up matches against New Zealand on 29 September and against India on 1 October, both games in Dubai.At the World Cup, South Africa is in Group B – alongside England, Scotland, Bangladesh and West Indies. Group A has defending champions Australia, India, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
