A quick check of the site’s front page reveals that they’re also aiming to provide key context that may be missing from mainstream media coverage of the dispute — like, for instance, a just-released study from the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, which, as, found that, thanks to the year-to-year uptick in inflation, the “average federal public sector worker’s wages” have the same buying power as was the case in 2007.
As the report points out, “even if the union wins its current wage demands of 4.5% increases each year for three years,” the average pay “would still be 4.8 per cent below the industrial average.’”
