Silverback Peak will be part of the new habitat that will welcome gorillas back to the zoo for the first time since 1990.
The San Antonio Zoo announced plans for a new event center which gives visitors a chance to see gorillas up close.will include a new event space where visitors can get up close and personal with gorillas.
The zoo announced its plans for a private event space overlooking the zoo that will feature a tower-like structure connected to itsThe structure, called the Silverback Peak, will allow the primates to climb up and meet with zoo visitors during events. Visitors also will overlook the zoo’s entire African Savannah, with San Antonio’s downtown skyline as the event space’s backdrop.
"There will be no other event center like this in the world," Tim Morrow, San Antonio Zoo CEO, said in a news release Tuesday.
