Preston based puppy trainer and socialisation expert Meera Puppins has sprinkled Christmas magic into the air by hosting a Santa Paws charity dog walk.With animal rescue centres full to bursting, the Santa Paws walk was hosted with the aim of raising much needed funds for Homeless Hounds, a north west rescue charity that saves dogs from the local pound, working hard to find them suitable foster and forever homes.
Generous attendees at the Santa Paws event raised a total of £100 to be donated directly to the charity, which includes donations from local dog owners who weren’t able to attend the event, but still wanted to help make Christmas a happier time for the rescue dogs who find themselves in kennels.Meera said: “To raise £100 in the current economic climate is absolutely amazing, and testament to the kindness and generosity of my clients, their friends and family members.
Meera is also urging dog owners to ensure their puppy or dog’s microchip details are kept up to date.“It might seem like a boring task, but having the right details could save your dog’s life if they go missing,” said Meera. “If the details are not up to date, your dog could end up in the pound, where they can only be kept for seven days.
“Without charities like Homeless Hounds to help rescue them, there is a very real likelihood that your dog could be put to sleep if you, as their owner, cannot be successfully contacted. “
