President Cyril Ramaphosa faces growing calls to address allegations of corruption against Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, the Minister in the Presidency. Ntshavheni is accused of benefiting from a R2.5 million procurement while serving as the municipal manager of the Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality. The Hawks have concluded their investigation, but the case is now with the NPA. This development comes amidst increasing scrutiny of corruption within the ANC, with similar allegations having been leveled against another minister previously.

President Cyril Ramaphosa faces increasing pressure to take decisive action against Khumbudzo Ntshavheni , the Minister in the Presidency, who is alleged to have benefited from a R2.5 million procurement while serving as the municipal manager of the Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality in Limpopo. Although the Hawks have not formally identified the person under investigation, sources indicate that they have concluded their probe into the alleged illegal tender.

However, they have acknowledged that the issue is being looked into. Currently, Ntshavheni holds a prominent position overseeing government communications and state security among other crucial responsibilities. The accusations of corruption against an ANC minister have intensified calls for accountability within the ANC, particularly following similar allegations against Thembi Simelane, the current Human Settlements Minister and former Justice Minister. Months ago, Simelane faced accusations of misconduct while serving as the mayor of the Polokwane municipality. According to ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula, who defended Simelane, these allegations highlight the growing focus on the matter and the party's step-aside resolution. Mbalula cautioned law enforcement agencies against conducting trials in the media, emphasizing the need for due process. He stated, 'If you have a case, you know what needs to be done. You arrest a person, they get bail or not, go to court and that's it... There is no court, kangaroo court, where Ntshavheni must explain herself through the media regarding whether she’s guilty or not guilty.'The Democratic Alliance (DA) MP Dianne Barnard has written a letter to Ramaphosa urging him to take action against the minister. Barnard stressed that Ntshavheni has been under investigation by the Hawks (Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation) since 2021, and her case is now with the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA). She urged the NPA to expedite the process and called on Ramaphosa to address the issue directly. Barnard stated, 'Mr President, South Africans deserve better than the growing list of crooks in your Cabinet. Do better.
