President Tharman, PM Wong congratulate China’s top leaders on its 75th national day

In his letter to President Xi, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam says China’s development journey has been impressive.

Chinese President Xi Jinping at the National Day reception in Beijing on Sept 30, the eve of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

“More than 800 million people have been lifted out of poverty and the country’s modernisation has been remarkable. China has made important global contributions in the areas of science, sustainability, arts and culture,” he said. In 2025, Singapore and Beijing will celebrate 35 years of diplomatic ties, and Mr Tharman said he welcomes Mr Xi to visit Singapore to mark the important occasion.

PM Wong, in his letter to Chinese Premier Li Qiang, congratulated China on its founding, on behalf of all Singaporeans.
