Durham Radio Inc. President Doug Kirk was honoured by the Oshawa Chamber of Commerce.
At their 27th annual Business Excellence Awards Wednesday night, Kirk was presented with the G.W. McLaughlin Award, formerly known as the President’s Award. Selected by the chamber’s president, it is given to an individual “For a lifetime of contributions to your community through leadership, mentorship, philanthropy and volunteerism.”
“Durham Radio is, I think, the envy of a lot of independent broadcasters in Ontario. Having three stations in various formats, all committed, all highly ranked in the market… first and foremost we do community, community service and local news,” said Kirk. “This is just a huge honour for me, and it’s really not about me… it’s about the 90 people who work for Durham Radio and I’m totally blown away by this, thank you very much… we’re not finished yet.
