Prasa blames criminality for delaying Ramaphosa's train eNCA
"But because of the openness of our rail system we have got thugs that come and vandalise the rail system who are stealing copper cables and taking anything that is of metal to sell to scrap yards, thus exposing commuters who are supposed to be travelling in a safe environment,” said Prasa Group Chief Strategy Officer Sipho Sithole.
Sithole said the train Ramaphosa was travelling in was blocked because the train ahead of it was stationary as the driver was assaulted by a stone. Speed restrictions on the tracks have also been blamed as the train cannot travel at more than 30km/h when it is operating on manual authorisation.
