Since 1993’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the franchise has seen dozens of seasons, multiple teams, and hundreds of Power Rangers. However, some Power Rangers colors are far more common than others.
Power Rangers Cosmic Fury’s Orange Ranger Is The Franchise’s First Power Rangers never had an Orange Ranger before simply because the vast majority of the Super Sentai series that the show covered did not feature an Orange Ranger. There are 47 Super Sentai shows as of the writing of this article, yet only four of them included an Orange Ranger. Of that total, only one show has been adapted into a Power Rangers season, Kyuranger.
Fern is the first and so far only official Orange Ranger in a Power Rangers TV show. Despite Cosmic Fury’s Super Sentain counterpart having an Orange Ranger, not much was used from the Sasori Orange in the crafting of Fern’s costume and powers. Fern first appeared in Power Rangers Dino Fury, during which she became Izzy’s girlfriend. The Green Ranger would later reveal her superhero identity to her girlfriend, which brought Fern closer to the Power Rangers.
The idea was that former Red Ranger Zayto and the now evil Blue Ranger Ollie would get their morphers whenever they rejoined the team. However, when Solon, the Solonosaurus alien that has been mentoring the Power Rangers since Dino Fury, was captured, Fern had no choice but to use one of the morphers. Fern only intended to use the Cosmic Morphe as a blaster and did not plan to activate it. However, as soon as Fern risked her life to save Solon, the Morphin Grid came into play.
