Homes under $200,000 are becoming unicorns in the housing market in another sign of Canada\u0027s deepening affordability crisis. Read on.
Only Waterloo and Kawartha Lakes in Ontario stood out with shares of homes under $200,000 at 3.13 per cent and 2.62 per cent, respectively.
Some of the largest cities in the Prairies are not far behind with Regina, Winnipeg and Edmonton having between 18.6 per cent and 28.9 per cent of listings under the threshold. British Columbia’s most populous cities are not much different: None of Vancouver’s nearly 3,000 listings cost less than $200,000, and the same goes for Burnaby.
