'Positivity and life and everything beautiful': Cross-Canada long-boarder pens novel about journey, lifelong health struggles yyc
“Everything shifted from negativity and pain and doubt … and changed into positivity and life and everything beautiful,” the Calgarian said of the charity-driven trek he made alongside his father, Michael Floyd, which was derailed in 2013 as Harrison suffered the third hemorrhagic stroke of his teenage years — and completed in 2016 after a lengthy recovery process.Sign up to receive daily headline news from the Calgary Herald, a division of Postmedia Network Inc.
Seven years after his successful 5,500-kilometre journey, Harrison has penned an autobiography, entitled Long For Life, about the trip — and his childhood health struggles that prompted it — to share his life-changing experiences and the “almost unbelievable stories” from the road and the incredible people he met that helped him out along the way.
“There’s so much negativity and drama going on in this world right now,” said Harrison. “I had to share the most beautiful piece of humanity that I have ever seen in my life. And I honestly don’t think there’s going to be much that’s going to be able to top something like this because it’s so out of this world. Like you can’t make this kind of stuff up.”
