Officials report \u0022positive progress\u0022 as crews battle a fire around the Centennial Lake area that forced the evacuation of dozens of homes.
The precautionary evacuation order was extended Monday and is still in effect until Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. “pending any situational changes.” Further evacuation orders are not expected at this time.

“We’re still in the very active portion of the fire season as well right now, so these numbers will continue to climb over the short term,” he said. The Environment Canada advisory initially predicted the smoke would dissipate Tuesday night, but recent forecasts have the smoky conditions lingering over Ottawa until at least Wednesday.
