Transnet Port Terminals recently received 47 new hauliers for the Port of Cape Town as part of its equipment replacement plan,The delivery also included four reach stackers, and a leased empty container handler as additional equipment. The company revealed this at a meeting on 12 August held by Dr Ivan Meyer, the Western Cape Minister of Agriculture, Economic Development and Tourism and Transnet’s Port of Cape Town management.
During the meeting, Meyer emphasised the importance of the Port of Cape Town as the Western Cape’s export hub. He added that he is optimistic about the PoCT’s eight-point improvement plan which aims to improve operations in crisis management, information sharing and port operations visibility, combatting combat
