Turning away from news of the by-elections for a moment...Prime Minister Rishi Sunak today continues his two-day tour of the Middle East, now travelling to Egypt after talks in Saudi Arabia and Israel.
It is thought that Mr Sunak will hold further meetings with counterparts from the region - we expect that we will hear from him.He yesterday met with the president and prime minister of Israel to discuss the situation in Israel and Gaza, before travelling to meet the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia.Mr Sunak has repeatedly stressed that Israel has the right to protect itself, while insisting the importance of avoiding regional escalation.
