We are now getting our panel's reaction to that spicy interview with Andy Haldane, the former chief economist at the Bank of England.Tim Montgomerie, founder of Conservative Home, says he is 'worried' that 'the negativity of Rachel Reeves's big statement' and new regulations on business, for example, could have a negative effect on the economy.
'He says they are taking something of a 'disjointed approach'.Caroline Flint, former Labour MP and health minister, says it is 'not unusual for a new government coming in to set out the stall for what they've inherited, and it's not been great', pointing to the 2010 coalition government doing the same.She also says levelling with the public on what exactly the government has to work with is no bad thing, and also the choices they are going to make.
