Zuma-Sambudla, a member of Parliament and leader of the UMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party Youth League, handed herself over to Durban Central police station on Thursday, January 30th, and was later released on warning. The case has been postponed to March 20th and transferred to the Durban High Court.The MK Party Youth League vehemently denies the charges, claiming they are politically motivated and part of a broader attack against the party, its members, and the democratic will of the people. They point to a pattern of persecution against the Zuma family, including Duduzane Zuma, who faced false accusations and vilification for challenging the corrupt establishment. National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson advocate Mthunzi Mhaga acknowledged that this case is unique and complex. It relies heavily on evidence gathered from social media posts, requiring the involvement of experts in social media analysis and interpretation. The investigation also involved procuring specialized resources, which added to the time it took to reach a decision.
