The police watchdog has launched an investigation after a car being pursued by officers crashed in Bolton - injuring five people. Greater Manchester Police referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct following the smash on Sunday night .
Some of the casualties were taken to hospital with serious injuries. In an update issued this morning , the IOPC confirmed it is investigating the police's involvement up to the moment of the crash.An IOPC spokesperson said: "We can confirm we are investigating police involvement prior to a serious injury road traffic collision in Bolton on Sunday evening. At around 8.30pm, a Skoda Octavia, which was being pursued by a GMP traffic vehicle, collided with a BMW.
