A man stormed the stage as the Labour leader delivered his keynote speech at the Labour Party Conference
A man arrested after Keir Starmer's keynote speech was disrupted at the Labour Party Conference remains in police custody.
The protester continued to shout "politics needs an update", "we demand a people’s house", "we are in crisis" and "our whole future is in jeopardy" as he was wrestled to the ground. Speaking to LBC radio this morning, Sir Keir said there was a "struggle" on stage and he believed the protester tried to pull him to the ground.
Labour shadow justice minister Shabana Mahmood said she expects "questions are being asked" surrounding security. She told BBC Radio 4's PM programme: "We will want to make sure that nothing like that can ever happen again." However, security in the centre is managed by The ACC Liverpool group which runs the venue. All people within the fenced-off secure zone surrounding the centre and the Pullman Hotel require a conference pass, which is only issued after an accreditation process.
