Elizabeth Gilchrist is believed to have wandered from her home overnight Monday.

Nanaimo RCMP are asking the public for help in locating an 82-year-old woman who wandered away from her home overnight Monday.

Elizabeth Gilchrist’s daughter arrived at her mother’s home in the Stephenson Point area about 11 a.m. Tuesday and found the front door open, with her mother nowhere in sight. Gilchrist has significant medical issues and there is extreme concern for her well-being, given her age and local weather conditions. Tuesday’s temperature is 4 C.

Nanaimo Search and Rescue was contacted to help look for Gilchrist, who is described as white and five-foot-four with a slim build and platinum-coloured hair. Anyone who sees her is asked to call 911. Call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 with information that could help with the search.
