A Salt Lake City police car blocks traffic near 1100 East and 900 South following a deadly pursuit early Sunday, Oct. 8, 2023.

One person was killed in the crash, which happened near 900 South and 1100 East after the driver failed to navigate the roundabout, authorities said. The release said that based on what preliminary information officers had at the time, they believed the two people in the car had been involved in the shooting.During the chase along 900 South, the car rolled over and crashed in the 9th and 9th neighborhood. Officers didn’t use a “PIT maneuver” or utilize any other interventions to try to stop the car, the release said.Both the second person in the car and the shooting victim were taken to a hospital with injuries that weren’t life-threatening.
