The discovery was made at the Forth and Clyde Canal on Saturday.
The firearm was fetched from the water at the Forth and Clyde Canal in the Maryhill area of the city on Saturday. It was discovered by a group of local magnet fishers, who sweep the waterway with specialist equipment.Previously, they have pulled cannonballs, a lady’s purse gun and a hatchet from the River Clyde.
Speaking to our sister title, Glasgow Live, Mark McGeachin, founder of the group said: “We've found a lady's purse gun from around the 1800s in the water. "Some have found cannonballs and other weapons. But we don't care about finding anything, it is just about getting fresh air and exploring."Police Scotland have been approached for comment.
