Police have opened a case for further investigation after an anonymous eyewitness came forward with information regarding the kitesurfer that died after strong winds lifted him out of the ocean and against buildings at Sunrise Beach in Muizenburg:
The 33-year-old kitesurfer sustained major head injuries and multiple limb and rib fractures.“While in the ambulance, en route to the hospital, the patient’s condition was critical with unrecordable blood pressure levels, pupils fixed and unreactive, pulse slowing, poor cardiac output, unrecordable Spontaneous Awakening Trials , poor respiratory efforts and bag-mask used, multiple injuries suspected.
The man was rushed to the Melomed Hospital in Tokai and immediately attended to by the emergency doctors but sadly he succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased by the medical personnel.that there was no gust of wind that lifted the deceased from the water and blew him against buildings., “He was only lifted around 2-3m out of the water and the ambulance took 30 to 40 minutes to arrive.
