Draper Police investigating apparent explosion near Point of the Mountain that caused loud 'boom,' flash of light

DRAPER, Utah — Many residents were startled by a loud"boom" that rang out across the Salt Lake Valley and Utah Valley in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Witnesses and video footage also helped narrow down the location to the"Point of the Mountain" area, between Draper and Lehi. Police officers and firefighters responded to the area where callers reported the boom and flash of light, which they said was near Moab Way and Manila Drive. They did not find anything at the time.

A hiker then contacted police and told them they found"indication of a possible explosion in the area," Draper Police wrote in a press release.
