Sgt. Eric Mueller was killed, and two fellow officers were injured, after they were shot at a residence in Bourget early Thursday.
Eight people carried Mueller’s Ontario flag-draped casket into the home.
The casket of OPP Sgt. Eric Mueller is carried into the Brunet Funeral Home in Rockland on Saturday. Mueller was fatally shot in Bourget, east of Ottawa, early Thursday.The funeral home is just a few blocks from the Clarence-Rockland city hall, one of two locations where members of the public could sign books of condolence for Mueller. The Bourget Community Centre in Bourget was the other.

“The community needs to heal, and the only way that they can do that is just by actually showing this kind of symbolic signature in a book that we’ll be giving back to the family. It’s a way for them to be able to activate something in their emotions of what happened,” Zanth said.
