The four teens were killed in a fatal crash in a car that was reported stolen earlier that day in Prince George’s County. An investigation is ongoing.

Serenity Sellman, 15, left, of Upper Marlboro, and Dartreal Byers, 17, were two of four teens killed in fatal car crash in a stolen car on Sept. 29. The driver of the Kia Sorento that crashed into a tree Sept. 29 in the Mitchellville area was identified as Marquay Swann, 14, of Lanham, police said, the youngest of the teens. Two of the passengers were identified as Serenity Sellman, 15, of Upper Marlboro, and Zyshaun Cuffey, 15, of Glenarden, according to police.

Though the crash occurred late last month, police released the names of the teens Monday because the severity of their burn injuries required confirmation of identities from the medical examiner’s office, according to the department.Police said the investigation into the crash that occurred about four minutes after a pursuit by officers ended

Serenity and Byers were at Serenity’s house in the Woodmore area when they were picked up in a car with two others inside, Hamilton said, to go hang out with their friends. Hamilton said Serenity and Byers “had no idea that the vehicle was stolen.” “We will definitely remember the smile; that’s all she did. Her smile was very contagious,” Hamilton said.
