The suspects are expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court.
Johannesburg police have arrested four suspects in connection with the hijacking of a Taxify driver on April 5.
In a police statement on Monday, spokesperson Captain Xoli Mbeli said the suspects, aged between 24 and 37, were arrested in Eldorado Park for possession of the hijacked vehicle on April 6 in the early hours of the morning. “It is alleged that three suspects hijacked a 28-year-old Taxify driver driving a Silver VW Polo at corner Polly and Anderson Street on the 5th of April 2019 at 2pm. Victim was on his way to the garage to fill petrol when he was stopped by a male in the company of a female. They asked him to take them to Naturena but he told them that he already had another trip to take,” Mbeli said.
Three suspects then allegedly approached them and held the driver up at gunpoint. One of the suspects allegedly grabbed the car keys from the ignition and ordered the victim out of the car.
