After 34 seasons umpiring Major League Baseball, Angel Hernandez is reportedly retiring on Tuesday after growing quite the reputation.
Longtime Major League Baseball umpire Angel Hernandez will reportedly retire on Tuesday. USA Today reports that Hernandez, 62, will hang up his umpiring gear after 34 seasons in the majors. Hernandez joined the MLB ranks in 1991 as a National League umpire and has been throughout the majors since 2000.
Hernandez has grown a reputation as one of the worst in the majors, constantly going viral in recent years for some horrendous calls. Most recently, last month Hernandez came under fire for making, quite literally, some of the worst calls the sport has ever seen. Hernandez called Texas Rangers rookie Wyatt Langford out on strikes on three straight sliders that were way out of the zone; the called third strike missed the plate by 6.78 inches, according to the Umpire Auditor on X.
Hernandez umpired three All-Star Games, 12 ALDS, eight ALCS and two World Series. Follow Fox News Digital’s sports coverage on X and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.
