The launch of the Mythical Island expansion for Pokémon TCG Pocket has been marred by widespread technical issues, including crashing and persistent error screens. DeNA, the developer of the popular mobile game, has yet to offer any official support or solutions for the problems.
Pokémon TCG Pocket has finally received its new batch of cards today in a new expansion called Mythical Island . Unfortunately the expansion has brought about a host of errors and crashing problems that have made the release disastrous for many. Players are taking to social media to discuss the problems they are having. It seems problems with the new expansion fall into two categories: outright crashing that prevents access to the game entirely, and error screens that continually pop up.
These problems seem to be affecting both the Android and iOS versions of the game., but our personal experience here at Hypertext falls into the error screens category. Trying to interact with Pokémon TCG Pocket in any way will cause an error screen to appear with error code 102-170-014. Again going back to social media, many other players can report the same. Error code 103-011-010 also seems to be a common problem. Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be any official help from Pokémon or Pocket’s developer DeNA. The error codes have no publically-available explanation or directions to address them, and the official silence on the issue is adding to the frustration. With an immense amount of hype surrounding the release of Mythical Island, we’re guessing that the current problems are being caused by a huge flood of people trying to access the app and servers not being able to properly handle the load. The best advice we can give everyone is to simply wait. Either the technical issues will (hopefully) be addressed by DeNA, or the amount of people in the app will eventually even out and the servers will be more stable. This is a less than ideal solution – trust us, we’re just as eager to experience the new cards and content – but this is sometimes the reality of online games
