Purdue Northwest Chancellor Thomas Keon, who was widely denounced after a racist remark at commencement in December, announced in an email Friday that he will be “transitioning to faculty” in June 2024, after 12 years as the school’s leader.

“ Cohen served 10 years, and Yackel 10 years before that,” Roach said Friday. “I’ve talked publicly to Chancellor Keon — when he was talking to me — about it being 10 years, and even he acknowledged . This is the first time we’ve heard it .” “We need to have a statewide discussion about how to be a trustee; now, you just have to be successful in business or politics to be chosen, and that was never intended.”
Members of Asian American academia have continued to watch the situation with Keon. Charissa Cheah, a professor of Psychology with the University of Maryland Baltimore County, was stunned that Purdue’s administration is allowing Keon to stay.
