LONDON – Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Monday said Britain could be the global home of artificial intelligence regulation, as he pitched London as a tech hub to industry leaders and urged them to grasp the opportunities and challenges of AI.

“The possibilities are extraordinary. But we must – and we will – do it safely,” Mr Sunak said in a speech at the London Tech Week conference. Governments around the world are now trying to find a balance whereby they can assess and reign in the potential negative consequences of AI without stifling innovation.
