Watching the PGA Tour these days it’s more surprising when a Canadian player isn’t found on the first page of the leaderboard at some point during the week.
“I know Taylor Pendrith is good enough to win, and I think he will soon. Adam has been a great player his entire time on tour. Nick’s had a great start to the year and is playing well. And Corey is leading the way. It’s obviously cool, and there’s no doubt momentum is high. I want to beat them all every week, but if I can’t then I want one of those guys to win.”
“It’s a very special group to be a part of,” Conners said of the Canadian contingent on tour. “I give a lot of credit to Golf Canada and their development programs. As I’ve said many times they are helping us get out here and I think a lot of the guys have benefitted from that program. Weir definitely paved the way and motivated me to try and get myself on the PGA Tour.
“I felt like I started the year playing well and kind of lost it a little bit in Phoenix and L.A.,” Conners said. “Things were close but was just a tad off with the ball-striking which is unusual. I worked with Derek for a few days and feel like I’m striking it well and real close to being great. I was just getting a little out of whack in my setup, so made some adjustments there.”
“It’s definitely a cool honour and it’s a position I’ve wanted to have over the past few years,” Conners said. “I feel like I’m a thoughtful person, and that I can relate to the membership. It’s nice to be involved in some of the discussions and be able to provide some thoughts that I have.”
