THEY’VE DONE IT: The Springboks played catch-up rugby for most of their epic against New Zealand at Ellis Park on Saturday, but came through at the end for the more than 60 000 fans to beat the All Blacks by four points in a match that will be talked about for a long time to come., but could never quite bury the Springboks, who like the true champions they are, kept plugging away and kicked on in the last 15 minutes to overhaul a 10-point deficit and remain undefeated in the Rugby Championship.
Up until his introduction, the Springboks were in trouble at the breakdown. But Smith was a menace when he came on and made a nuisance of himself on the ground. He capped off a fine display by scoring the match-winning try.The young flank had his worst game in a Springbok jumper and was subsequently hooked off late in the first half and replaced by Eben Etzebeth .
The Springboks refused to be beaten at Ellis Park as they fought back from ten points down to beat the All Blacks 31-27 and stretch their lead in the Rugby Championship.
