The partial collaspe of former Wellington pub in Radcliffe posed 'an immediate threat to public safety'

Houses are set to be built at the site of a former pub which was urgently demolished after it collapsed. Buildings next to the former Wellington pub on Stand Lane, Radcliffe, dramatically collapsed in March, leaving debris sprawled across the street.

A planning statement on behalf of owners Candy Investments Ltd, said: “This statement aims to outline the reasons why the demolition was deemed necessary for public safety and the overall well-being of the community. On Sunday March 19 at circa 9.30pm, a significant portion of 44 Stand Lane, suffered a partial collapse.READ MORE: Man charged after 76-year-old dies after crash

“The unstable condition clearly posed a hazard to pedestrians, nearby businesses, and residents, creating a hazardous environment that required immediate attention.”
