Construction of a Grimsby solar farm could start as soon as 2025 🌞
It would be located on fields north of Waltham and Barnetby le Beck and would have the capacity to produce 49.9MW, the equivalent of enough electricity produced to power around 27,000 homes.
Most of the agricultural land the solar farm will be sited on is classed as moderate quality. The 125 hectare site will border on a 350 metre section an existing solar farm of 21MW capacity. “HGV movements are anticipated to be in the order of 10 per day for around 3 months,” it is stated in one of the earliest application documents. “Any impact would be temporary and only during construction.”Elsewhere, another firm, Aura Power, already has planning permission for a 49.9MW solar farm, located between Healing and Laceby. Construction is to start in 2024.
