A pilot escaped with no apparent injuries Saturday following a light plane crash just outside the city’s south end.
Firefighters said they received a 911 call from the Rideau Valley Soaring School reporting a plane had a fuel leak and had gone down in a field just south of the intersection of South Gower Boundary Road and Rideau River Road.
“The pilot did not think they would make it back to the runway due to a fuel issue in the air and decided to attempt to land the aircraft in the field,” firefighters said in a release.Advertisement 2Share this article in your social network
