Spanish coach Jose Riveiro is set to leave Orlando Pirates at the end of the season when his contract expires.
The Spaniard joined the Buccaneers in 2022, and in three seasons, he has helped the team secure five trophies: three MTN8 titles and two Nedbank Cups. This success places Riveiro among the best coaches in Pirates’ history during the PSL era.
Given the progress the team has made, it would be unfortunate for the coach to leave without winning at least a league title. After losing four of their last nine games, the Buccaneers’ title hopes have diminished, but they still have the Nedbank Cup to defend. One positive note is that the Soweto giants are still competing in the CAF Champions League.Former Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane is available and could step in.
