With Bafana Bafana next in action against Nigeria in an FIFA World Cup qualifiers, could the South Africans be met with a familiar face in the opposite dugout?

South African coachWhether Mosimane is in a job or not, there seems to be speculation of where his next job will be.topflight. He joined the club on a short-term contract. He was also appointed during the middle of the season, with the club hoping he saves them from relegation. His agent and wifeTlhagale did, however, state that Mosimane would be willing to sit down and re-negotiate with Abha should they avoid relegation.

“Nigeria have appointed caretaker coach Finidi George for the friendly international matches against Ghana and Mali, but they are still searching for a permanent coach to take over as from the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, which resume in June. Mosimane’s manager, Moira Tlhagale, has revealed that she is currently in talks with teams for the upcoming season as contingency plans should the former Bafana Bafana coach not extend his four-month deal with Abha Club.” Wrote the publication.

The maths also starts to add up, when you realise that Mosimane’s last game for Abha Club should be in May. At that point, he would be expected to know whether he is re-signing or going. Should he decide not to, and Nigeria talks go smoothly, he could start just before the Super Eagles World Cup qualifier. This being in time for their clash against Bafana Bafana on June 3rd.

What makes this even more of a possibility is that, the former Bafana coach has publicly flirted with the idea. Mosimane recently praised the quality at the disposal of the Nigerian side.“To be honest, I still want to do a national team. I don’t choose what comes, but if you say, ‘Am I interested?’ I am interested. I would like to lead a team in the World Cup. Africa has nine places.
