Title-chasing Al Ahly are currently on a run of three matches without a win in the Egyptian Premier League and dropped points again on the weekend after being held to a 1-1 draw by Ceramica Cleopatra.The result, which comes on the back of a goalless draw against El Geish and defeat to Al Masry, has left Ahly eight points behind league-leaders Zamalek in the log standings, albeit with three games in hand, and heaped further pressure on coach Pitso Mosimane.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach has lamented his side's profligacy in front of goal as the main reason for their recent dip in form but defiantly insisted that he and his players were motivated to improve results in the coming weeks. "The last two games have been difficult, and this game today is a copy of the last game. It's very difficult to break the barrier, very difficult because some people defend with a line of six. But it's okay, it's the opponents' tactics, and you have to respect that.
"The problem isn't the performance, it's the fact that we are wasting a lot of chances, we created a lot of chances but we didn’t score. To me, a bad performance is not creating many chances.
