The dispute between Pitso Mosimane and the Motsepe owned Mamelodi Sundowns shows no signs of ending any time soon.
Mosimane and Sundowns have had a legal issue since the well travelled coach left Motsepe’s side forMosimane left Sundowns ahead of the 2020/21 season, having spent eight years of his career at the club. Although the final few years were trophy-laden, he had to recover from a rather turbulent start. In the infant stages of his time at Masandawana, he even had to be escorted by police away from the field. This was due to a frustrate bunch of fans venting about the results of the team on the field.
It was then a huge shock to the South African football fraternity when it was announced that Mosimane was leaving. He went on to join Egyptian giants Al Ahly, where he had local, continental and international success. But he was doing so under a cloud left by the manner of his departure from Sundowns. When Mosimane left Sundowns, the club ordered his camp to pay R8 million.
the decorated coach is not backing down against his former employer and will have him summoned to court.“According to the subpoena, Motsepe is required to appear in court at the corner of Von Brandis and Pritchard streets in person on Monday, April 29, at 10am. Thereafter to remain in attendance until excused by the court. The subpoena was applied by Mosimane’s law firm, Mabuza Attorneys. It compels the mining magnate to testify on behalf of the coach and the agency.
It remains to be seen how this dispute ends, as neither Motsepe nor Mosimane seem ready to back down.
