Pistons Planned To Pursue Monty Williams If They Won Lottery - RealGM Wiretap
The Detroit Pistons were reportedly planning to make a push to hire Monty Williams as head coach if they had won the lottery and the chance to draft Victor Wembanyama, reports Marc Stein. The Pistons fell to fifth despite having the worst record in the NBA, making them the biggest losers of the lottery.
ESPN's Brian Windhorst shared a similar sentiment about the Pistons during his post-lottery podcast though he didn't name the specific coach. Williams became available following the second round exit of the Phoenix Suns. Williams is also considered a candidate for the Milwaukee Bucks, Toronto Raptors and Philadelphia 76ers.Troy Weaver is believed to consider Ollie as his preferred choice.
