Pirates announced the signing of Kapinga, who had parted ways with Mamelodi Sundowns and Kimvuidi from Maritzburg United, after they had already completed their pre-season tour of Spain and Riveiro suggested that it may be too soon for them to feature ahead of their opening game of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season against Stellenbosch on Saturday evening at Danie Craven Stadium.
"The new players? Ja, they are not in the same level of preparation because they did not start together," Riveiro said in a pre-match press conference. "And everyone needs time to have proper adaptation to the new environment, to the new teammates, to the methodology, to everything," he said.
