Outrage has erupted over the removal of icons like the Fathers of Confederation, the Canadian National Vimy Memorial in France and Terry Fox on his Marathon of Hope.
OTTAWA—Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre pledged Thursday he’d undo the coming changes to the design of the Canadian passport, saying the Liberals have replaced iconic images of the country with what amounts to a colouring book.by the Liberal government, who said the document needs updating to keep it secure.
“The current prime minister’s woke and out-of-touch ideology is so egotistical that he cannot imagine there are any Canadian stories bigger than him,” he said during question period. The Liberals pushed back against Poilievre’s claim to be a champion of Canadian icons, arguing their party was silent when a statue of Terry Fox across the street from Parliament Hill was defaced last year.
